Ural Steel took part in the launch of a briquetting line
The executives of Ural Steel (part of Metalloinvest) took part in the launch of the AKKERMANN METAL SUSPK briquetting line.
Ural Steel and SUSPK are united by a long-standing mutually beneficial partnership ... I am sure that the opening of a modern production facility for a new type of product will strengthen our cooperation, ”said Yevgeny Maslov, Managing Director of Ural Steel JSC. “High-strength briquettes with a high iron content and“ smart ”briquettes with special additives fully meet the demands of metallurgists, which means they will be in demand by our plant and other enterprises in the industry."
The production of high-strength briquettes is an innovation in the slag recycling strategy ... They are made from metal concentrate and cement with the addition of anthracite, magnesite, sludge and other additives necessary for the customer. The productivity of the new line is 30 tons of briquettes per hour, which is 150 thousand tons per year.
“We supply limestone to Ural Steel, and in return we receive metallurgical slag, which is used in the production of cement, and now also at making briquettes, - said Konstantin Morozov, General Director of South Ural Mining and Processing Company LLC. - Thank you for the cooperation of the metallurgists of Ural Steel, with whom we consulted during the development of the project. This product is for metallurgists, so we tried to time the launch of its production line to coincide with their professional holiday. "
“Even at the design stage of the briquetting line by Ural Steel, a technical specification for briquettes with a high iron content and restrictions on harmful impurities was developed. The partners tried to take everything into account, - said the technical director of Ural Steel Sergey Zubov. - Today a pilot batch of briquettes is being tested in the blast-furnace shop. We use them in the process of smelting pig iron in blast furnace No. 1. If the result is positive, it will be possible to talk about contract deliveries for production at other blast furnaces. ”
