MMK is implementing a major environmental project in the steelmaking industry
The project, implemented jointly with the Italian company Danieli, which supplies contract equipment, started in 2020. The general contractor is Prokatmontazh JSC. At the moment, all design and preparatory work has been completed for the reconstruction of dust and gas collecting installations of arc steel-making furnaces No. 1 and 2, the first stage of the project is in full swing, including the dismantling of old equipment and the installation of new dust cleaning and dust collection systems.
This is not the first environmental project in the electric steel-making shop of PJSC MMK. In 2017, there were replaced two outdated wet-type gas purifiers No. 32 and No. 33 with modern dry-type ones designed to capture, cool and clean the flue gases resulting from the operation of the twin-tank steel-making unit No. 32, as well as fugitive emissions, which were previously did not get into the gas outlet path.
The modernization of existing and construction of new environmental structures is an important part of the environmental program of PJSC MMK, implemented as part of the strategic initiative of the Clean City company. The purpose of the measures taken is to introduce the best available technologies to reduce the harmful impact on the environment and ensure the environmental safety of technological processes.
