The Sandvik Group acquires the leading company for the development of CAM systems-CNC Software Inc., the creator of Mastercam
The Sandvik Group of Companies has signed an agreement to acquire CNC Software Inc , a leading supplier of CAD/CAM solutions for the metalworking industry under the Mastercam brand.
Thanks to the acquisition of CNC Software, Sandvik becomes the owner of a world-class CAM brand and a Mastercam software package-a CAM system with the largest user base in the industry (about 270,000 licenses). CNC Software will enter the "Automation of Design, Planning and Pre-Production" division within the Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions business line of the Sandvik Group of companies.
Over the past two years, the alliance of Sandvik Coromant (a division of the international industrial group Sandvik), a leading global supplier of tools, solutions and know-how for the metalworking industry, and CNC Software, the developer of the popular CAD/CAM system Mastercam, has demonstrated impressive results from working together. Thus, within the framework of the technological partnership, many successful projects were implemented to develop digital platforms, special applications and solutions, research and testing of methods, algorithms and software were carried out, as well as customization of tool trajectories for its geometry and processing conditions was implemented.
Today, CNC Software occupies a strong position in the CAM systems market, in particular, among small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises( SMEs), which supports Sandvik's strategic ambitions in the field of developing solutions for automation of SME production. Combining the advantages of Mastercam with Sandvik's offers and innovations will become an important tool for end-to-end automation of production processes at customers ' enterprises in the future.
"The combination of our know-how in the field of metalworking and Mastercam's experience in the field of CAM systems will improve the quality of processing and reduce the share of defects in the production of our customers. It is important to note that we will implement data saving functions for reuse in the future. This will ensure consistently high quality of work, eliminating the need to manually select the tool and adjust its trajectories every time, " says Mathias Johansson, head of the Design and Planning Automation division at Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions.
"I am convinced that Russian customers will appreciate the results of the joint work of our specialists and colleagues from CNC Software Inc, because over the past couple of years of our cooperation, many successful projects have been implemented to create digital solutions that are widely in demand on the market today. The acquisition of CNC Software Inc will allow us to expand not only our own capabilities, but also the capabilities of our customers, giving them access to advanced technologies of Industry 4.0," says Andrey Pashenko, Sales Director of Sandvik Coromant, aerospace sales cluster.
