Severstal Supported the Great Repin Disciples Exhibition

Severstal has supported the unique exhibition The Great Repin Disciples, which will open on September 23, 2021 at the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Academy of Watercolors and Fine Arts of Sergei Andriyaka.

The exhibition project is designed to reveal the talent of Ilya Efimovich Repin as a teacher , who nurtured a whole galaxy of outstanding masters who determined the subsequent development of Russian art.

Repin's weight and authority as a painter and teacher can hardly be overestimated - his workshop at the Academy of Arts has always been overcrowded. The large-scale exposition of the exhibition will include about 300 works of painting and graphics, both widely known and undeservedly forgotten students of Ilya Repin of different years (more than 50 artists in total): Valentin Serov, Philip Malyavin, Nikolai Feshin, Konstantin Somov, Boris Kustodiev, Igor Grabar and others. with works by lesser known authors: Alexander Buchkuri, Alexander Vakhrameev, Stepan Kolesnikov, Grigory Bobrovsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Gabriel Gorelov.

Over 20 leading museums (including the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Scientific Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts) and private collections from all over the country, who supported the idea of the exhibition and provided works of the first magnitude. Thus, the exposition presents more than 30 works from the collection of A.G. Egorov, Deputy General Director of Severstal. Many paintings will be offered to viewers for the first time.

A voluminous illustrated catalog is being prepared for publication especially for the opening of the exposition. the artists turned out to be a "nesting nest"! There is no doubt that the Great Repin Disciples exhibition will become a bright event in Russian artistic life and will give impetus to further study of the pedagogical heritage of Ilya Efimovich Repin, ”says Natalya Poppel, Advisor to the General Director of Severstal for Sustainable Development.
