Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant optimizes procurement process
At the Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex), as part of the digital transformation program, a pilot project has been launched to introduce an internal online store (marketplace). It significantly simplifies the process of purchasing inventory.
“This project is a joint development of the UMMC Transformation Director's service and the CZP team. Its goal is to automate the purchase of low-value goods,” says IT Director Konstantin Bolshakov. - We plan that placing an order will take no more than 10 minutes, and delivery will not exceed 48 hours. Naturally, if this item is available in the supplier's warehouse. Moreover, delivery takes place directly to the workshop, bypassing the central warehouse. ”
Previously, the delivery time, taking into account planning and competitive procedures, could reach up to 180 days. Now the target time from order to delivery is 48 hours. On the online platform, the employee selects the necessary items, adds them to the basket, the person responsible for the budget line approves the application, and it is immediately sent to an accredited supplier. In the personal account, all shipping documents are issued and a pass for the security service is formed.
“Customer focus also implies the satisfaction of internal customers - foremen, foremen, production personnel, who must be provided with everything necessary for their work. And what is expected from the supply in the first place? Speed and quality, - notes the commercial director of JSC CZP Alexander Kharchenko. - The marketplace is beneficial not only to end users: processes are accelerated, the load on internal logistics and warehouse balances is reduced. The economic effect is expected to be obtained through discounts on retail prices provided by suppliers. ”
The Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant has become a pilot site for the project. From November 2021, it is planned to introduce the marketplace at Uralelectromed JSC, with possible replication to other UMMC sites.
