The list of programs on the terminal looks like a trifle against the background of a pumping station, but it determines how much money the client will leave for one check-in. One button instead of seven is a minute of washing and a minimum receipt. Fifteen incomprehensible modes — a person gets lost, presses at random and leaves dissatisfied.
The task is to assemble a set that covers the real tasks of the driver and at the same time reads in a couple of seconds. Let's analyze each program: what it does, why it is needed, when it is chosen, and how it will end if it is not installed.
How many programs are actually needed
The usual working set is from eight to eleven modes. Less than eight — you cut off some of the scripts and lose money on those customers who are willing to pay more. More than twelve — the panel turns into an airplane dashboard.
The logic here is the same as in any retail store: the person at the terminal makes a decision quickly, often in the cold or in the rain, often with gloves. It needs large buttons and clear names, not a full technological cycle of detailing.
An important detail that is overlooked at the design stage is that the software package is determined at the stage of ordering the terminal. Adding a mode later is not software, but hydraulics: a separate line, a separate dispenser, a separate container for chemicals. Therefore, it makes sense to choose control terminals for self-service car washes with a margin in the number of channels, even if you do not plan to turn on all of them at the start.

High-pressure water
Water up to 200 bar — any washing starts with it. The task of the preliminary stage is to knock down sand, dirt and anything that can scratch the varnish during subsequent processing. Applying foam to a dry, dirty car is pointless and harmful.
The same program works as a separate service: I came from the mud, knocked down the main thing, and drove on. For some customers, the entire visit to the car wash is two minutes of high pressure, and such a scenario should also be possible.
Foam
Active foam is the basis of the process. It is applied in a thick, even layer, softens dirt, works for several minutes, and is washed off with water.
Customers rate the quality of the sink more highly by foam than by anything else. Thick, white, stays on the body, which means "good car wash." Liquid, drains in ten seconds, which means "diluted chemistry." This is not a technical assessment, but a customer's decision is made that way.
Osmosis
Final rinsing with demineralized water with a drying and gloss product. The point is that regular tap water contains salts: as it dries, the salts remain as white dots on the body. Osmosis removes this problem completely.
