Pumping substances using peristaltic pumps: device features and application in industry

There are many different models available on the pumping equipment market. But only peristaltic pump is so widespread. In popularity it can be second only, perhaps, to centrifugal ones. The equipment is suitable for pumping water, toxic, chemically aggressive, contaminated and viscous substances. It is capable of working in extreme conditions and is as practical as possible. The only part that requires periodic replacement is the hose.

Main characteristics

The design of hose equipment is as simple as possible. It includes a motor, a rotor with rollers that serve as a pressing mechanism, and an elastic tube with a track to which it is pressed by the rollers. Depending on what substance needs to be pumped, a hose made of polymers or rubber is installed.

The liquid is transported by alternately squeezing and relaxing the hose. It enters through the inlet into the tube, after which it is compressed by rollers and thus pushed further to the outlet. There is complete insulation between the discharge and inlet sides so that there is no leakage. Also, thanks to this principle of operation, a peristaltic pump can be used as a dispenser.

7 advantages of a hose pump

  1. Versatility - suitable for pumping a wide range of substances, including explosive, toxic, viscous and heavily contaminated.
  2. Maximally simple installation and operation.
  3. Inexpensive maintenance and maintainability.
  4. The presence of a reverse function, which allows you to change the direction of flow of the pumped substance.
  5. It is impossible for liquid to accidentally enter the drive, since it is securely isolated in the hose.
  6. The peristaltic pump can operate dry, so if the liquid supply suddenly stops, the device will not fail.

  8. Quiet operation, which is especially important in large industries and construction sites, where there is already enough noise.

Industries where a peristaltic pump is used

Main areas The uses of the peristaltic pump are chemical, pharmaceutical, food, oil refining, mining, drainage and water supply, agriculture. Equipment is often purchased for construction sites to pump concrete, resins, mastic and cement mixtures.
