Difference between seamless and welded pipe
At the construction site and in the manufacturing sector, a wide variety of rolled products are used. But, steel pipe has universal characteristics. It is equally well suited for dozens of areas at once. Buy pipes would be the right decision. But, it is worth figuring out which type is best suited for a certain type of activity.
Seamless
This type of rolled products requires more complex conditions for its production. But, the effort expended is fully justified. At the output, you can get a product with ideal geometric parameters. More resistant to tearing, with increasing pressure of the working medium. There are several options for the production of such structures:
- gradual drawing of heated metal;
- classic rolling through machine rolls;
- pressing until the desired result is obtained;
- forging, as the most expensive, but high-quality product.
In the latter case, the product is additionally strengthened at the molecular level. The metal becomes denser. It is difficult to destroy during normal operation, even if the outer or inner part of the pipe is corroded. In addition, the products have two classes. The first is produced by hot-rolled method, the second by cold method.
Electro-welded pipe
This type of product, as a rule, has a large diameter. So, as the first method, only small and medium-sized pipes can be made. As a basis, a high-quality steel sheet is taken, previously cut into blanks necessary for welding. There are several ways to make a pipe of the desired diameter:
- Straight seam along the entire length of the pipe.
- Spiral, for large diameter pipes.
- For water and gas pipelines, with increased wall thickness.
- Profile, has a square, rectangle or oval section.
Square and rectangular pipes are no less common than the round counterpart. And a large range of products on the site https://spb.dipos.ru/metal_production /trubnaya-produktsiya/, allows the consumer to choose the rental that best satisfies his needs. The welded version of the pipe is considered no less durable, but only a few percent inferior to rupture. But, unlike seamless, in production it has a more favorable cost for the consumer.
Welded pipes may have longer lengths. Easily interconnected using a welding machine or a variety of hardware. Perfectly resist the negative factors of exploitation.
