Scope of the sewer manhole
Historically, the vast majority of urban and industrial communications are below ground level. This not only contributes to safety, but also complicates access to the pipes and manifold, in case of damage. It is enough to buy a sewer hatch and install it in key places, to provide access to communications for repair teams. In addition, most hatches have standard dimensions that facilitate their replacement in case of physical damage.
Polymer or cast iron hatch
Traditionally, this type of product was made by casting from ordinary cast iron. Relatively simple and inexpensive in mass production, the technology has its drawbacks. The hatch turned out to be very massive, heavy when lifted in case of repair work. In addition, cast iron is relatively brittle when subjected to dynamic loads. Polymers have their own advantages:
- they are not at all afraid of temperature changes during the year;
- they do not deteriorate with high humidity and water ingress;
- they do not emit into dangerous chemical compounds in the atmosphere;
- have an attractive cost for the city and the enterprise;
- quite easy to transport and operate.
Important: polymer manholes for sewerage are mainly used in household plots, parks and squares, pedestrian areas. Wherever there is no risk of traffic creating a significant load on the plastic cover of the communication well. In addition, as they are used, plastic hatches are practically of no interest to those who hunt for scrap metal.
The main scope
Without exception, hatches serve to ensure the safety of urban, personal and communications on the territory of enterprises. Quite versatile, they can be used for the following purposes:
- restricting access to an underground, storage tank;
- entrance to the sewer of a city, enterprise;
- access to other, underground utilities;
- special, storm or rain hatches.
On public roads, according to the law, the use of polymer hatches is prohibited. To increase safety, it is necessary to install cast-iron analogues of the corresponding group here. Able to withstand significant loads created by trucks.
