Scope of sea containers
This type of container for the transportation of a wide variety of goods was invented in the last century. In a short period of time, they have gained great popularity. More you can find out what goods were transported by containers and the existing standards regarding sizes. But, due to its versatility, the metal container has a more universal application in practice.
Main technical specifications
Made from a metal profile, sea and rail containers are able to withstand significant physical exertion. Thanks to special fasteners, they are easily held on the platform, even when stacked on top of each other. To other equally important characteristics, it is worth adding:
- Not sensitive to temperature differences.
- Resists high humidity well.
- Preserve content from mechanical destruction.
- There are completely sealed container models.
- Suitable for transporting a wide variety of goods.
Important: metal containers have strictly defined dimensions. There are only a limited number of international sizes that fall under the definition of the standard. This factor gives certain advantages in the use of containers for alternative purposes.
Use in practice
As long as the container is new and not written off for one of the reasons, it is used in rail, road or sea transport for domestic and international transport. But, after decommissioning, it can be used for a wide variety of purposes:
- temporary storage space for material assets;
- as a temporary shelter for workers to rest and sleep;
- mobile laboratory for analysis;
- secure module for storing supplies;
- Small but well protected shop.
The thickness of the container wall is so large that it is almost impossible to damage it with an ordinary tool at hand. Even if, after decommissioning, it is operated in harsh conditions, the strength will last for several decades. Minimal corrosion protection extends the service life by a very long time.
