Data from the world steel Association on Monday showed a sharp contrast between production in China, which largely removes the restrictions, and the rest of the world.

Global steel production in may 2020 fell by almost 9%

Global raw steel production declined year-on-year by 8.7% in may to 148,8 million tons against the total restrictions on the movement of goods and commodities because of the pandemic, COVID-19.

However, in may 2020 in China were produced 92.3 million tons of steel, which is 4.2% more than in may 2019. In other countries, the fall in steel production has reached an average of about 25%.

So in may 2020 in Japan was produced 5.9 million of steel, which is 31.8% less than in may 2019. Steel production in South Korea in may 2020 to 5.4 million tons, which is 14.1% less than in may 2020.

steel Production in the EU is estimated at 10.5 million tons in may 2020, which is 26.8% less than in may 2019.

In may 2020, the United States produced 4.8 million tons of steel, which was 36.6% less than in may 2019.

steel Production in the CIS is estimated at 8.2 million tons in may 2020, which is 7.6% less than in may 2019. Ukraine produced 1.6 million tonnes of steel in may 2020, which is 10.4% less than in may 2019.

Brazil produced 2.2 million tons of steel in may 2020, which is 22.6% less than in may 2019.

steel Production in Turkey in may 2020 amounted to 2.3 million tonnes, which was 25.8% less than in may 2019.

Association worldsteel, whose members represent about 85% of world steel production, earlier this month predicted that global steel demand will fall by 6.4% this year, but will recover quickly in the next year.
