XPENG presented the first production car Robotaxi

XPENG has unveiled its first Robotaxi production vehicle in Guangzhou, positioning it as China's first Robotaxi production program built entirely on its own automotive platform with full functionality, Gasgoo reports.

This launch is an important step in the company's efforts to vertically integrate hardware and software for autonomous driving, artificial intelligence models, and automotive engineering in the face of increased competition in the Chinese Robotaxi market. XPENG plans to begin demonstration trips in the second half of the year, after receiving regulatory approval in January to test smart connected cars in Guangzhou and create In March, there was a special unit for robotic taxis.

The car, built on the flagship GX platform, is equipped with premium passenger amenities, including tinted glass, folding seats with zero gravity, an entertainment display in the rear, in-cabin controls and a voice assistant "Xiao P". From a technical point of view, it is equipped with four of Turing's own artificial intelligence chips, providing 3000 TOPS computing power, and a large second-generation artificial intelligence VLA model from XPENG, allowing for level 4 autonomous driving under certain conditions. Unlike many competitors, XPENG relies on a system based solely on visual perception, without the use of LiDAR or high-definition maps, claiming a delay of less than 80 milliseconds and better adaptability.
