Prices for Italian fittings continue to decline

Italian rebar prices are experiencing a weekly downward trend, continuing the significant decline noted in May, which coincides with events in all long-standing commodity markets.

Although the market remains quite low, the main southern distributors reports that the demand for fittings has been growing recently. The construction company also reports that several projects are underway, and it places weekly orders for fittings, according toKallanish.

"There is complete uncertainty. Supplies are declining as many customers are waiting," a source at the plant said.

Domestic transactions decreased by an average of about 10 euros per tonne (US$11) compared to last week and are hovering at 250 euros per tonne from the factory. The actual cost of fittings is 510-520 euros per ton in factory conditions, and additional dimensions average 260-270 euros per ton. Domestic grid supply contracts are also declining by an average of 10 euros per ton to 350-360 euros per ton. This does not include transportation costs or additional size costs, which, according to sources, amount to approximately 300 euros per ton.
