Volkswagen is considering a strategic partnership with India's JSW Group to strengthen its position in the world's third-largest automotive market, Reuters reports.
The proposed cooperation will expand Volkswagen's product range, deepen the use of local resources, exchange vehicle platforms, and increase production capacity. The partnership is expected to include joint management, clearly defined operational roles, and a management system aimed at accelerating decision-making.
JSW entered the Indian passenger car sector in 2023 through its joint venture with the Chinese company SAIC Motor, which sells MG cars. Volkswagen has been operating in India for more than two decades, with the group's local business led by Skoda, but its market share remains around 2%.
