Long products prices in Europe were stable or slightly lower, varying by region, during the week to Wednesday, July 2.
In Northern Europe, rebar prices remained virtually unchanged, but demand was reported to have slowed due to the approaching summer holiday period.
Fastmarkets' estimate of prices for rebar steel rods supplied to the domestic market in Northern Europe was 615-640 euros (726-755 dollars) per ton delivered on July 2, unchanged from week to week.
Some of the highest prices were in Denmark, with some offers reaching 640-645 euros per tonne delivered. Market sources explain this by the lack of domestic demand and limited access to imports.
Prices in Germany were heard in the lower ranges of €615-630 delivered per ton.
The lowest prices were in the south of France, where sources reported a strong effect from supplies from Italy.
Fastmarkets’ price estimate for steel reinforcing bars (rebar), domestic, on EXW terms in Italy, decreased to €510-550 per ton on July 2, from €500-560 per ton on July 25.
Prices at the lower end of the range related to the north of the country, where the availability of the material was, the higher its end was for prices in the south of the country
Market sources reported that infrastructure development was driving demand in southern Italy.

The latest price readings for wire mesh in Italy came in a wide range of €580-615 ($694-726) per ton delivered, depending on the supplier, who continued to Fastmarkets once a week, cost estimates for steel wire (mesh quality) domestic, delivered to Southern Europe, unchanged on July 2 at €580-615 per ton.
In the north of Europe, meanwhile, prices have softened in a week, with market valuation sources estimating a feasible price in the range of €600-610 per tonne delivered, some suppliers say that the upper end is sometimes difficult to reach.
