Acciaierie d' Italia (ADI) continues negotiations with the Azerbaijani consortium, which includes Baku Steel

Acciaierie d'Italia (ADI) continues negotiations with the Azerbaijani Consortium, which includes Baku Steel, the Azerbaijan Investment Company, Jindal Steel International and Bedrock Industries Management. Several Italian companies are also competing for individual ADI assets, sources close to the case tell Kallanish.

Marcegaglia and Sideralba are reportedly interested in producing pipes in Salerno, southern Italy. Eusider, Profilmec and Marcegaglia have expressed interest in the Racconigi pipe plant near Cuneo in northern Italy, while Marcegaglia is also reportedly eyeing the Socova pipe plant in Seine, southern France. The interest, which does not extend to the Taranto plant, is seen as part of a broader market consolidation strategy.

In 2017, SiderAlba acquired the former Ilva roll production facility in Bizerte, Tunisia, which processes etched and galvanized rolls.

The second tender for the sale of the steel mill opened on August 1, and the process is expected to be completed by October. This step is aimed at enabling other potential buyers to submit their proposals. Earlier this month, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Made in Italy (MIMT) reached an agreement with the local authorities on the decarbonization of Taranto, which was an important step towards a long-awaited agreement with them on the program (see Kallanish passim).

"It is unacceptable that uncertainty still reigns in Taranto: the program agreement has not been implemented, and we adhere to a simple memorandum dated August 12, which does not change anything. There are talks about new buyers, but the same names continue to appear, with no clarity on assets or ways to decarbonize," Rocco Palombella, general secretary of the Uilm trade unions, said in an interview with Rainews24 national television channel. "Meanwhile, workers remain in limbo due to uncertainty regarding requests for higher wages. fees that may increase further."
