Italian steel mill and pipe manufacturer Sideralba has acquired a production facility in Misinto, Monza province, from the Eusider Group as part of the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, Sideralba CEO Luigi Rapullino confirmed to Kallanish.
The Misinto plant is equipped with three installations for the production of pipes welded by electric contact welding of round, rectangular, square and oval sections, made of hot-rolled and galvanized steel, as well as two slitting lines for strip cutting. The product range covers diameters from 12 mm to 76 mm with wall thicknesses of 2 mm and 3 mm.
This acquisition strengthens Sideralba's presence in the Italian market and expands its product range, while strengthening its position in the European market.
In a press release, Rapullino calls this "a historically difficult moment characterized by severe market instability and geopolitical uncertainty. This acquisition is a testament to the company's tenacity and firm determination to continue its structured growth path."
This step is part of a long-term industrial strategy aimed at technological innovation, increased production capacity and international expansion.
In 2023, Sideralba invested over 30 million euros ($34.2 million) in the sustainable growth and modernization of its main production facility in Acerra, near Naples, in order to increase energy efficiency and diversify its product range. The investment was part of a two-year program involving the construction of a new warehouse, a photovoltaic farm, new equipment and the modernization of existing production lines.
Last year, Marcegaglia and Sideralba established the 50/50 joint venture SM Tunis Acier in Tunis to strengthen their presence in the local cold-rolled and hot-dip galvanized coil market. The partners have invested a total of 10 million euros in an existing Sideralba-owned facility with the aim of doubling CRC and HDG production capacity to 400,000 tons per year by 2023.
