German company Dillinger to relaunch BF No. 4

The German manufacturer of thick-rolled products Dillinger will resume operation of the temporarily shut down blast furnace No. 4 at the Rogesa Roheisengesellschaft plant in Saarland on August 30, the steel company announced on August 28.

The furnace was stopped in May of this year for scheduled repairs.

The shutdown had no impact on the thick-sheet metal market due to seasonally weak demand in the summer. In addition, the steel mill stocked up on the slab before replacing the furnace lining to avoid supply disruptions.

After Furnace No. 4 was shut down, Rogesa continued to operate Furnace No. 5 to supply pig iron to Dillinger subsidiaries.

In North-Western Europe, Integrated offers s235 grade sheet metal. The prices for the mills were reported to range from 670 to 680 euros per ton. German steel producers have focused on supplying products to projects and end users under long-term agreements, which has supported spot prices.
