ArcelorMittal Powders steel division, which produces high-quality steel powders for various additive manufacturing technologies, informs Kallanish that it is ceasing operations.
"The company, which began operations in November 2023, ceased operations after production start dates were not met for technical reasons," ArcelorMittal says.
The company will assess the impact of the decision with the participation of 15 employees working at a new industrial facility in Aviles, Spain.
In the first week of November, ArcelorMittal Powders received an environmental permit for the construction of a new industrial plant. The project included the installation of an electric vacuum unit and a high-pressure gas nozzle, which was supposed to produce powders from scrap steel and use renewable energy sources. It was assumed that the enterprise would have large production facilities for the production of batches from 200 kg to 3 tons and an initial annual capacity of 1800 tons per year.
ArcelorMittal's so-called AdamIQ brand includes 316L, 430L and 17-4PH stainless steels, tool steels (H11, H13, M300) and low-alloy steels. The products were planned to be supplied to the aerospace, military, automotive, medical and energy industries.
