ArcelorMittal
ArcelorMittal will resume operation of blast furnace No. 1 at its site in Fos-sur-Mer in southern France in June after modernization work aimed at extending its service life.
Investments in the amount of 90 million euros were allocated for the resumption of production. Blast furnace No. 2 will remain in operation while research continues on the construction of a future electric arc furnace.
In the second quarter of 2026, ArcelorMittal in Belgium will reopen its Galva 5 galvanizing line in Flemal. The upgraded line will process hot-rolled coils from Ghent and restore production facilities for the production of coated steel.
The company has produced its first coil at new electrical steel production lines in Mardique, northern France. The 500 million euro project will increase the company's electrical steel production capacity in Europe to about 295,000 tons per year.
Marcegaglia
Marcegaglia has signed a 450 million euro contract with Danieli for the construction of a new steel and hot-rolled flat products plant in Fos-sur-Mer, France.
The plant is expected to produce more than two million tons of liquid steel and up to three million tons of hot-rolled carbon and stainless steel coils per year.
The project is part of a larger investment of about 1 billion euros. The production will use scrap and hot-rolled cast iron, as well as nuclear and renewable energy.
Once the facility is put into operation, it is expected to provide about a third of the total demand for rolls and slabs in Marcegaglia.
Celsa
