Interpipe has entered into an agreement to acquire shares in the Romanian company ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) Roman, a Ukrainian steel manufacturer, says Kallanish.
"The completion of the transaction still depends on compliance with the usual closing conditions, including obtaining the necessary permits from the antimonopoly legislation and foreign direct investment," says an Interpipe representative. "Until the construction is completed, both companies will continue to operate independently and conduct their business as usual."
"We look forward to finalizing the deal in due course, and until then no further comment will be provided," he adds.
AMTP Roman is a major manufacturer of seamless pipes, formerly known as Petrotub, specializing in the production of pipes for energy, building structures and pressure applications. The capacity of the enterprise is 320,000 tons per year.
Interpipe has previously confirmed its strategic commitment to continuous investment and production modernization, even during wartime. The company pays special attention to the development of export markets. Europe and the United States remain its main sales markets, but they are strengthening the protection of their domestic producers, the pipe manufacturer notes.
Interpipe will continue to invest in new equipment in 2026. The company intends to continue its $120 million investment program to modernize its railway division through 2032.
Interpipe CEO Luca Zanotti previously stated that the company has all the prerequisites for global scaling and becoming truly international (see Callanish Passim). Over the past ten years, the company has undergone drastic changes in terms of market diversification. The company's products are shipped to more than 80 countries, with a focus on Europe, North America and the Middle East.
Interpipe reduced steel production in the first half of the year by 17.8% compared to the same period last year to 352,000 tons. According to the latest data, pipe production increased by 7.7% to 278,000 tons, while pipe sales increased by 14.4% to 302,000 tons.
Earlier, the European Commission approved Metinvest's acquisition of Romanian company ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi (AMTP Iasi), concluding that the deal does not create problems for competition. The Ukrainian steel mill will gain sole control over AMTP Iasi, a manufacturer of small-section carbon steel pipes.
