Peter Brennan has been appointed CEO of UK Steel and replaced Gareth Stace, who is leaving the position after 12 years at the organization.
Brennan previously served as Director of Trade and Economic Policy at UK Steel. Prior to that, he worked for S&P Global for more than a decade, where he was a reporter and editor covering the steel market, industrial production, global trade and financial markets.
During his time at Platts, he wrote about the UK and European steel industries, and contributed to the Steel Business Briefing and World Steel Review publications. Later, Brennan covered global markets, macroeconomics, and lending at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Commenting on the appointment, Brennan called the current period a key one for the entire steel supply chain and stressed the need to create conditions under which both producers and consumers would develop sustainably.
"This is a crucial moment for the entire steel supply chain, and we have a lot of work to do to create a sustainable ecosystem in which both steel producers and consumers can thrive," he said.
Brennan also thanked Stace for his work and expressed hope for working closely with UK Steel stakeholders to address the challenges facing the industry.
