EU confirms phasing out of imports of Russian slabs by 2028
Some restrictions on the import of Russian-made steel products, in particular slabs, will remain in place until September 30, 2028, in accordance with the transitional mechanisms provided for in existing EU restrictive measures, Kallanish said in a joint statement issued on April 17 by the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission.
To ensure gradual and sustainable diversification, these imports are limited by quotas, the volume of which is decreasing annually. The institutions add that the relevant measures determine the trajectory of a complete cessation of imports of the remaining Russian steel by September 30, 2028.
