Prices for Polish rebar are declining due to slower sales during the holidays; wire rod is stable
Domestic rebar prices in Poland declined in the week to Friday, June 5, while wire rod prices remained stable amid weak demand due to bank holidays and high prices.
"The week to June 5 was very slow because 80% of companies are closed on Friday due to bank holidays," a source in the trading environment told Fastmarkets.
According to sources, rebar prices in Europe were 2,800–2,900 zlotys ($767.13-794.53) per ton, while larger buyers provided supplies at a lower price.
The plants' offers were presented at the level of 2850-2900 zlotys per ton, excluding VAT.

Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for steel rebar bars produced on the Polish domestic market on Friday was 2800-2900 zlotys per ton, down by 30-50 zlotys per ton from 2830-2950 zlotys per ton on May 29.
Wire rod prices have not changed over the same period, with market prices reported to be around 3,000-3,100 zlotys per ton shipped to Poland.
"The wire rod segment in Poland is generally stable," a sales source told Fastmarkets.
Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for domestic steel rod (drawing quality) supplied to Poland on Friday was 3,000-3050 zlotys per ton, unchanged from a week earlier.
