tk accelis: Thyssenkrupp Materials Services is rebranding under a new name

Thyssenkrupp Materials Services, Germany's largest steel distribution company with offices in Europe and North America, has renamed itself tk accelis, effective immediately.

"The new brand highlights the company's transformation from a pure materials distributor to a supply chain service provider," the company said in a statement reviewed by Kallanish. Recently, there has been a trend in business towards an increase in the number of value-added data processing services and solutions.

In addition, the new brand supports the company's desire to become independent in accordance with thyssenkrupp AG's ACES 2030 strategic program, the statement said.

Thyssenkrupp conglomerate has been trying for some time to find a joint venture partner for its tk Steel Europe steel production. As for the distribution division, the topic of a potential spin-off has recently emerged, as the parent company seeks to become a holding company for independent enterprises.

The group intends to retain at least half of the shares in tk accelis, a Kallanish representative recently said. This happened after another major German player in steel distribution, Klöckner & Co, was acquired by Worthington Steel.

The name of the new brand comes from the words "acceleration" and "access", which means fast delivery and efficient processes, as well as the availability of materials and services, the company explains.

The new brand embodies what we stand for: speed, reliability and continuity of processes in global supply chains," says Ilse Henne, CEO of tk accelis. And she adds: Our new name helps us prepare for entering the capital market.

During the fiscal year ending in September 2025, tk Material Services' orders totaled 11.4 billion euros ($13.1 billion), with 7.6 million tons of materials sold.
