Italian steel mill in Romania hires new employees for the first time in a decade
Donalam smelter in Calarasi in southern Romania, part of the Italian Beltrame group, has begun recruiting more than 50 new employees to meet the growing demand.
Donalam, one of the leading players in the production of hot rolled products and special steel in Europe, predicts a profit of over 630 million lei (about 128 million euros) this year, which is twice as high as last year. p>
The plant annually exports to the European market about 120,000 tons of rolled steel.
“With the resumption of production in industrial sectors, the demand for steel products is growing, given the variety of industries in which steel is used as a raw material - oil and gas, automotive and agricultural machinery, construction. The recovery in international orders is also felt in the number of new orders we received in a relatively short period of time, as Donalam is the only manufacturer of hot rolled steel sections in the country. The challenge for now is to meet this high demand, so we are focused on recruiting to increase our production and production capacity, ”said Enrico Deganello, Donalam plant director.
Donalam has over 270 employees making it one of the largest employers in Calarasi. The company is currently investing over € 11 million to modernize a rolling mill at the steel mill.
