The situation in the Ukrainian industry remains difficult in the fourth year of Russia's full-scale invasion. In the first quarter, production decreased by 6.11% compared to the same period last year.
This was announced by People's Deputy, Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Daniil Getmantsev in his Telegram channel.
"if in January the lag from the same month in 2024 was -4.8%, at the end of two months it was already -6.0%, then during the quarter it accelerated by another 0.1 percentage points," the report says.
According to him, only in the extractive industry, the decline in production relative to the first quarter of 2024 has already reached 15.0%. Thus, the production of metal ores decreased by 4.0%, oil and gas – by 14.8%, and coal – by 42.1%.
At the same time, he pointed out that the situation in the processing industry is not much better – although the overall rate of decline has decreased, it is 2.1%.
"The food industry has reduced output by 12.3%. An increase in the production of meat and meat products by 6.0%, fish products by 5.2%, fruit and vegetable products by 4.2% did not compensate for a decrease in the production of butter and animal fats by 24.9%, products of the flour and cereal industry, starches and starchy breads, flour confectionery products of short storage by 11.7%, sugar – by 83.8%," said Getmantsev.
In addition, he predicts a reduction in light industry output if the slowdown continues. The politician also pointed to a slowdown in growth in the metallurgical industry – to 7.9% from 11.7% at the beginning of the year, in particular, the production of cast iron, steel and ferroalloys – to 6.4% from 10.0%, and the production of other primary steel processing products from +18.0% in January turned to -1.6% in January-March. In addition, production in the oil refining industry decreased by 19.9%.
At the same time, Getmantsev noted that the situation in the engineering sector has improved from -7.3% at the beginning of the year to +1.9% in the first quarter.
"There are enough problematic areas here: for example, the production of metalworking machines and machine tools decreased by 20.3%, and other special–purpose machinery and equipment by 23.8%," the MP summed up.
