The rating is compiled by the World Steel Manufacturers Association (Worldsteel), which updates data on all steel-producing countries on a monthly basis. Production data in million tons are shown below, with percentages of production in 2023 shown in parentheses.
In 2024, global steel production continued to show strong performance, despite fluctuations in demand and the impact of economic factors. China remains the undisputed market leader, having produced 1001 million tons of steel, which accounts for more than half of the global volume. India, which took the second place, continues to increase production, reaching 146 million tons, while Japan closes the top three with 84 million tons, followed by the United States and Russia.
