The Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe plans to invest $ 120 million in the modernization of railway production facilities.
The company presented such an investment program for the modernization of the railway division until 2032 at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025, which was held in Rome last week, the company's press service writes.
The main projects are the construction of a new heat treatment line, the expansion of wheel and axle finishing capacities, as well as the modernization of the workshop infrastructure.
According to Vitaly Sueta, Director of Products and Resources at Interpipe, the company's long-term strategy is to increase its market share in passenger wheels.
"Having a strong position in the cargo segment, this investment program will allow Interpipe to expand its product portfolio. In the passenger segment, each train has its own wheel design, which may require the development of a separate production process. Moreover, every project is bound to have a powerful environmental component, from reducing CO2 emissions to improving energy efficiency in all our operations. We are strengthening our export positions thanks to a completely new level of quality," the top manager emphasized.
Earlier, Forbes-Ukraine reported that in order to increase its market share in passenger wheels, Interpipe intends to expand cooperation with national railway operators in Europe, in particular, Spanish Renfe, French SNCF and Italian Trenitalia, as well as complete certification in global carriage building corporations such as Siemens, Alstom, Stadler.
