In January-August, China reduced steel production by 2.8% compared to the same period a year earlier, to 671.81 million tons, according to the country's State Statistical Office.
In particular, in August, steel output decreased by 0.7% year-on-year and amounted to 77.37 million tons, which is the lowest level since December. The reduction was recorded for the third month in a row.
Pig iron production decreased by 1.1% in eight months to 579.1 million tons. In particular, in August, output amounted to 69.79 million tons, which was 1% higher than in the same month a year earlier.
