Japanese giants merge: new company will enhance decarbonization and efficient use of resources

Kanadevia Corporation and Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. on February 5 announced their intention to begin negotiations on management integration, Yieh reports.

It is expected that if the agreement is implemented, Japan's largest engineering company with total sales of more than 1 trillion yen will be created.

The companies plan to sign a final agreement in September 2025, and the merger is scheduled to be completed in April 2027.

As part of the merger, the partners intend to strengthen management foundations and global competitiveness, in particular in the areas of decarbonization and circular use of resources.

Mitya Kuwahara, President and CEO of Kanadevia, noted that the goal is to create a world-class engineering group. Depending on the final share ratio, the new entity may become a publicly traded affiliated company or a subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation.
