Spot prices for apartments in Romania have not changed due to the lack of consumer activity

Conditions on the Romanian flat rolled products spot market remained virtually unchanged this week, as demand continued to remain at a relatively moderate level and trading activity remained virtually unchanged compared to previous weeks.

Market participants note that business still depends mainly on regular purchases, while overall transaction volumes remain below expectations. Against this background, suppliers, as a rule, maintained the existing price level, which led to stable prices on the spot market from week to week.

In the domestic spot market, HRS prices remained stable at the level of 780-790 euros per ton from the warehouse, while CRS prices also remained unchanged week after week, amounting to 880-900 euros per ton from the warehouse.

Meanwhile, market participants continue to monitor developments at Liberty Galati, Romania's only flat-rolled steel manufacturer, ahead of the second asset sale scheduled for June 19. According to local media reports, the manufacturer has begun preparations to restore its certification with CE marking, which is required for the supply of metal products to the EU market and is considered an important step towards the potential resumption of production activities at the plant.

Import activity remained limited this week, and no new deals were reported on the market. Market sources indicate that Romanian buyers have mostly stayed away from purchases made in recent weeks, while the persistently low growth rate of local demand has further reduced the need for additional orders. The Ukrainian supplier has maintained a stable supply level: the price per hour is still 760-770 euros per ton excluding VAT in Romania, and the cost of loans is 850-860 euros per ton excluding VAT in Romania. Meanwhile, an offer from HRS of Serbian origin was announced at a price of about 885 euros per ton without VAT in Romania, compared with about 800 euros per ton without VAT, which was previously reported. Turkish suppliers, meanwhile, have slightly lowered their HRC offers to 555-580 euros per ton of CFR in Romania, compared with 565-580 euros per ton, it became known last week. However, buyers' interest in imported materials remains limited as protective quota restrictions and CBAM-related costs continue to influence purchasing decisions.
