The Bulgarian long paper market is entering August, and activity on it is already at a low level, as purchase decisions are postponed, company activity slows down, and discussions are mainly limited to immediate needs. The holiday period is expected to further reduce activity in the coming weeks, and most participants do not see much prospect of a noticeable improvement until the end of August. However, the current situation is not only related to the seasonal absence of customers, as consumption was already weak, and limited liquidity continued to limit the ability of customers to place regular orders. As a result, there remains uncertainty about the extent of recovery after the end of the holiday period. ,
,Local quotes remained unchanged this week. Rebar is still available at a price of about 630-640 euros per ton excluding VAT, while wire rod prices are approximately 670-680 euros per ton excluding VAT. Activity
Imports also remain limited, although reports of a possible order for Turkish fittings in the Balkan region have sparked discussion among Bulgarian market participants. The local buyer has not yet been identified, and opinions are still divided as to whether Bulgaria was involved. Some sources believe that the lack of recent import operations makes arrival in Bulgaria unlikely, while others believe that some of the reported 5,000-12,000 tons of cargo may have been delivered to this country. It is assumed that the deal was discussed at the level of 565-570 dollars per ton on FOB terms, but neither the buyer nor the final destination were confirmed.
Turkish rebar is currently being offered at a price of about $565-580 per tonne FOB, compared to $565-575 per tonne FOB last week.
