Association of Iranian steel producers reported a decrease in consumption of semi-finished steel with stable demand for finished products.

According to the Iranian steel Association, apparent steel consumption - defined as production plus imports minus exports, adjusted for changes in stocks during the eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-November 21) amounted to 13.05 million tons of semi-finished products, which is 2% less compared to the corresponding period last year. Finished steel consumption in the reporting period remained unchanged at the level of 10.41 million tons.

Most popular products in Iran remained rolled sheet steel, which had 5.42 million tonnes of consumption, which is the percentage less in annual comparison.

Among flat-rolled steel, hot rolled steel coil had the largest share of apparent consumption - of 5.39 million tonnes (up 3%), then cold rolled from 1.71 million tonnes (down 8%) and a roll coated with 1,12 million tons (an increase of 14% annualized).

the share of longs had of 4.99 million tons of finished steel, 1% more than in the previous year.

Reinforcement took the largest share in this section from 3.92 million tons, which is 3% lower than in the previous year, followed by beam with 623 000 tonnes (up 37% yoy) and L-shaped, T-beams and other types of from 445 000 tons (a rise of 3% yoy).

the Use of direct reduced iron DRI increased by 5% to 17,84 million tons.
