Ukrainian consumers of metal products in January of this year increased the purchases of steel by 2.16 times compared to the same period last year - up to 297.1 thousand tons.
At the same time, according to the press release of the industry association "Ukrmetallurgprom", during this period 103 thousand tons or 34.67% of the domestic market for the consumption of metal rolling were imported.
Also, according to the association, in January, Ukrainian metallurgical plants produced 480.2 thousand tons of metal rolling (7.2% higher than January-2024), of which, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, about 286.1 were exported thousand tons or 59.6%.
In January 2024, the share of exports amounted to 88.4% (400.3 thousand tons with the total production of metal rolling 453 thousand tons).
The share of semi -finished products in export supplies in January 2025 is 28.21%, which is twice as lower than January 2024 (55.65%). The proportion of flat rental in export supplies in January of this year significantly exceeded last year's indicator of the same period - 54.35% and 33.55%, respectively. The proportion of varietal rental this time is also noticeably higher: 17.44% in January 2025 versus 10.80% in the same period of the 2024th.
The structure of imports in January-2025 is still characterized by a significant dominance of flat rolling over varietal (86.50% and 10.78%, respectively); In January 2024, the dominance of flat rolling over the variety was also significant (83.90% and 15.16%, respectively).

The main export markets of Ukrainian metal distribution in January 2025, according to customs data, are the countries of the European Union (69.6%), other Europe (12.4%) and Africa (7.7%).
Among metallurgical importers in January-2025, other European countries (61.3%) occupy the first place, in the second-EU-27 (24.7%), on the third-Asian countries (13.8%).
As reported, the market of the metal distribution of Ukraine in 2024 decreased by 6.26% compared to the previous year - to 3 million 288.4 thousand tons, while in 2023 it increased by 2.19 times compared to 2022 - up to 3 million 505.6 thousand tons. tons.
