The largest metallurgical plant in Ukraine restored water supply in full
After the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the shallowing of the reservoir, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, the largest steel producer in Ukraine, laid a new pipeline to supply the city with water and fully cover production needs. This will allow supplying water from the Ingulets River and filling the South Reservoir at a level of about 3,000 cubic meters per hour.
Thanks to this project, production processes will be provided with water in full, and the population of Krivoy Rog will already receive up to 30% of the required volume of water is 80-90 thousand cubic meters of water per day, the company said.
Work on the new pipeline was carried out by employees of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, the Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company and contractors from the construction company Olvia.

Mauro Longobardo, Executive Director of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, said the construction of a new water pipeline is one of four projects that are being implemented quickly to address the city's water supply problems after the Kakhovka dam burst on June 6.
“By compensating for the absence of the Kakhovka Reservoir, our new pipeline will provide almost a third of the required amount of water for the city's residents, as well as cover the production needs of the enterprise. This project is the result of the implementation of complex technological solutions and another proof that the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih team is a strong fusion of professionalism, experience and unique knowledge. Based on current market conditions, the production level will remain unchanged, but the new water supply system gives us every chance to increase the production of basic products,” said Mr. Longobardo.
Last month, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that ArcelorMittal suspended rolling work at the Kryvyi Rih plant - the largest in terms of production capacity of the plant in the war-torn country after the 600 square kilometers of the Kakhovka Reservoir dam burst on June 6, flooding the region, leaving civilians and businesses without water.
CFO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Sergey Plichko said that ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih's water consumption has decreased from 2.5 thousand cubic meters per hour to less than a thousand cubic meters due to a dam break.
Despite the restoration of water supply, the Krivoy Rog Mining and Metallurgical Plant stopped blast furnace No. 6 for major repairs. According to the company's information, this unit was the first to be launched after the complete shutdown of the enterprise at the beginning of a full-scale invasion.
