Ukraine may face the shortage of drinking water
national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) reported on the likelihood of shortage of drinking water in the country and called for optimizing the use of water resources, the press service of the NSDC.
"According to the State Agency for water resources of Ukraine, the last five years have been shallow, and there is the likelihood of water scarcity in the basins of some rivers, which have a significant anthropogenic load", — stated in the message of the NSDC.
Secretary of the Board Alexey Danilov said about the necessity of optimizing the use of water resources and careful water use. He also noted the importance of conducting a complete inventory of underground waters of drinking quality and artesian wells for their involvement in the water supply.
According to the NSDC Secretary, the "strategic objective is ensuring water security of the state in the face of climate change".
