For the first quarter of 2021, the seaports of Ukraine handled 32.6 million tons of cargo

During January-March 2021, port operators in the seaports of Ukraine handled 32.6 million tons of cargo. This is 8.44 million tons or 20.5% less than in the first quarter of last year.

Ukrainian seaports are gradually reducing negative dynamics. Processing of ore and grain cargo is growing - by 9 million tons (-12.1%) and 8.6 million tons (-36.9%), respectively. At the same time, oil transshipment for 3 months of this year increased by 21.1% and amounted to 619 thousand tons.

At the end of the reporting period, the transshipment of export cargo amounted to 25.3 million tons (-20.1% compared to the same period in 2020), import - 4.9 million tons (-19.9%), transit - 2.1 million tons (- 25.1%), coastal - 233.8 thousand tons (-35.1%).

Also in the first quarter of this year, 253,170 TEU containers were handled. This is 4.6% less than in the same period in 2020.

Since the beginning of 2021, 138 dry-cargo vessels have been handled in the port of Mariupol, and for the same period in 2020 - 105. In the first quarter of this year, compared to the previous year, the number of vessels with export cargo to Italy increased - 43 (in the 1st quarter of 2020 - 40), Turkey - 36 (was 18), Lebanon - 10 (was 3). Plus, two directions were added - Canada and Mexico, where in total more than 40 thousand tons of Mariupol slabs were shipped.
