PAO Severstal, one of the world's largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, has developed a Climate Memorandum “Together for a Low Carbon Future” to support global efforts to prevent further climate change. In this regard, Severstal comes up with a proposal to the business community on cooperation within the framework of the Climate Memorandum.
Scheider Electric and Air Liquide were the first partners to join the initiative to join efforts to ensure a sustainable low-carbon future.
The current climate change is unprecedented in pace and scale in human history. The negative consequences are obvious for sustainable economic development, well-being of society, conservation of nature and biodiversity. Severstal is one of the first steel producers in the Russian Federation to calculate greenhouse gas emissions using Scope 3. The company also works closely with companies that are contributing to reducing emissions in the Severstal supply chain to help them reduce their carbon footprint.
Severstal pays great attention to this problem, and not only makes great efforts to minimize its carbon footprint, but tries to involve its partners in joint initiatives in this area.

The Memorandum contains five guiding principles and recommendations for their implementation:
