Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant eliminated illegal landfill in the adjacent territory

Press Releases
The Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (PJSC ChMK, part of the Mechel Group) has cleared the territory adjacent to the plant from illegally dumped household and construction waste.

The spontaneous dump was found by the workers of the plant during a survey of the adjacent territory. It was located northeast of the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, opposite the Druzhba gardening partnership and garage cooperative No. 507. Bricks and reinforced concrete construction materials, spoiled vegetables and household waste were dumped there.

To prevent the landfill from overgrowing and possible soil and water pollution, the ChMK management decided to clear the area of garbage and prevent it from appearing there in the future. In accordance with the requirements of environmental legislation, the dump was examined, and the types of waste to be collected were determined. The waste removal involved the equipment of the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant and the central regional operator for garbage removal (its dump trucks, loaders, excavators, manipulator and garbage trucks). The waste was taken out to the solid domestic waste landfill of the enterprise, from where it was taken by the regional operator.

To prevent the landfill from forming again, the dirt road along which the garbage was brought to this site was dug up, signs with warning inscriptions were put up. The unfenced area of the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant in this place is guarded by employees of a security company.

“From now on, inspections of the plant's perimeter will become regular. If such landfills are identified, we will immediately liquidate them and prosecute those who will dump the garbage, "said Chief Engineer of the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant Vladimir Kapnin.
