Gas heating. Is it worth it?

Gas heating of apartments or houses is becoming more and more popular every year. This heating method is user-friendly and also less polluting than coal. It is also cheaper than electric heating.

In short:

  • A house or apartment can be heated in this way by those who have the ability to connect to the city gas pipeline.
  • Gas heating has more advantages than disadvantages and is cheaper than electric heating.
  • The cost of such heating can be significantly reduced by purchasing a modern gas boiler .

For whom is this possible?

Most apartments in apartment buildings are connected to the city heating network. Even if someone wants to switch to gas heating, he will not be able to do it. Why? Because there is no gas connection in the house. Natural gas can be supplied to multi-family or apartment buildings subject to the consent of all residents.

In most cases, gas heating is suitable for private houses, where it is possible to create a separate boiler room.

Is there an alternative?

Yes, gas boilers are incredibly popular, but due to problems with gas supplies in Ukraine, solid fuel boilers have become increasingly in demand.

Pros and cons of heating a house with gas

When building a house, we must decide which heating method is best for us. The best, i.e. cheapest, most convenient and most efficient. In Ukrainian weather conditions, the best solution is gas boilers running on natural gas. Unlike LPG, fuel oil or coal, natural gas does not need to be stored on site.

Its advantage is that we pay for gas only after consumption. Thanks to this, we do not run the risk of buying too much and, as a result, overpaying in vain. Installing a natural gas boiler is also cheaper than an LPG or oil heating system.

High efficiency class

It should be noted right away that gas heating can be very different in terms of efficiency class. In the case of most boilers available on the market, this class is calculated separately for domestic hot water heating and domestic water. In the first case, this class is somewhat lower, since the water circuit in a central heating installation is inevitably subject to heat losses. In the case of a well-insulated drinking water tank, the situation is quite different, since the efficiency class is usually A+ or even A++. However, the water heating class for many devices still remains A.
