Metalloinvest, a leading manufacturer and supplier of iron ore products and hot briquetted iron in the world market, one of the regional producers of high quality steel, presented plans to develop the production of premium iron ore products at the 15th mining and geological forum MINEX. /b>
Comprehensive development programs for Lebedinsky and Mikhailovsky GOKs are aimed at improving the quality characteristics of iron ore concentrate, pellets and hot briquetted iron (HBI), increasing production while reducing environmental impact, as well as increasing operational efficiency.
The forecasted volume of Metalloinvest's investments in the construction and modernization of production facilities of mining and processing plants, scheduled until the end of 2024, is estimated at 64 billion rubles.
“Metalloinvest is striving for leadership in the mining and metallurgical industry. Today we have a clear action plan that will ensure the achievement of this ambitious goal, ”commented Andrey Ugarov, First Deputy General Director - Production Director of MC Metalloinvest. We will make a technological breakthrough - our plants will become world leaders in the quality of pellets and HBI. The implementation of the development programs of LGOK and MGOK will open up new sales markets for the Company, increase sales margins, and ensure sustainable development of production with a minimum level of environmental impact - both at Metalloinvest's enterprises and among our consumers - metallurgists. ”
At the Mikhailovsky GOK, the construction of the Crushing and Conveyor Complex (DCC) continues on the southeastern and northeastern sides of the open pit. The first phase of Derrick fine screening technology was launched at the concentrator, and the second phase of the project was launched - the construction of a new building for the additional concentration of concentrate using highly efficient equipment. In 2022, Mikhailovsky GOK will produce about 16.9 million tonnes of high-quality concentrate, including 8.8 million tonnes of flotation concentrate with an iron content of 70%.
The construction of the DCC and the new enrichment building will allow processing of refractory ores with a higher iron content, to reduce stripping costs and production costs.
At the pelletizing plant of Mikhailovsky GOK, roasting machines are being modernized in order to increase productivity, improve the quality of pellets and expand the range of production of high-basic pellets.
At the concentration plant of Lebedinsky GOK, Derrick fine screening technology was introduced in 2015 - 2016, more than 15 million tons of re-enriched concentrate with an iron content of more than 70% is produced annually. To further improve the quality of the concentrate, it is planned to introduce flotation technology.
Laboratory studies have confirmed the possibility of reducing the content of silica in the concentrate when flotation is used from 2.5-3% to 1.2%. This will make it possible to produce pellets and HBI with quality characteristics at the level of the best world standards. The iron content in the pellets will be increased from 66% to 67.5%, the silica content will be reduced from 3% to 1.65%. The iron content in HBI will increase from 90% to 92%, the silica content will decrease from 3.75% to 2.2%. The decision on the implementation of the flotation project is planned to be made in 2020.
At the pelletizing plant of Lebedinsky GOK, the implementation of a project for the reconstruction of roasting machines has begun. As a result, it is expected to increase the productivity of machines by 13%, to reduce the specific consumption of gas and electricity by 12%, to reduce the environmental load due to the installation of electrostatic precipitators.
It is also planned to modernize the hot briquetted iron workshop No. 1 (TsGBZh-1) and the complex HBI-3. The goals are to increase the productivity of machines, increase the carbon and iron content in HBI.
