Uralelectromed JSC (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex) has completed the second stage of reconstruction of the raw materials warehouse in the railway shop. As a result of a large-scale reconstruction, the railway workers received a modern and easy-to-use room with lean manufacturing technologies.
The warehouse of the railway workshop will be updated in three stages. In 2018, the roof, building facade and first floor were renovated. At the second stage, the working area of the loading area was reconstructed: the area of work was 6.3 thousand square meters. meters. All metal structures (trusses, crane runways) have undergone anti-corrosion treatment and painted. The concrete floors were repaired, the narrow gauge was overhauled: the rail and sleepers were replaced, the concreting of 230 running meters of the railway track was carried out.
An important part of the reconstruction was the introduction of "lean manufacturing". After the first stage of the renovation, inventory items are stored in the warehouse on the ground floor using the 5S system with the installation of new racks.
At the third stage, in 2020, 250 running meters of wide track will be repaired and concreted. It is planned to equip a combined check-in of road and rail transport.
The warehouse of Uralelectromed JSC in a round-the-clock mode accepts, stores, records the movement and distribution of blister copper and non-ferrous scrap for further processing in the copper smelting shop (MPC). Here, more than 30 thousand tons of raw materials are received by rail and road transport per month. Blister copper supplied from UMMC enterprises is loaded onto trolleys and delivered to the MPC along a narrow track by inter-shop transport.
