Uralmekhanobr will design a completely new copper electrolysis workshop for the Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant

JSC "Uralmekhanobr" (a research and design institute as part of the UMMC) has completed the development of technological regulations and basic technical solutions for the re-equipment of the copper electrolysis shop at JSC "Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant" (JSC "KMEZ", Kyshtym, Chelyabinsk region. , part of the Russian Copper Company Group).

The specialists of Uralmekhanobra started to implement the project in the middle of this year. They were given the task to carry out a complete technical re-equipment of the workshop, as a result of which the plant should increase the productivity of cathode copper up to 230 thousand tons per year.

- Of course, this is not an easy task, - said the chief project engineer of OJSC Uralmekhanobr Artem Fatkhutdinov. - It is necessary to fit completely new modern equipment into the existing building. This often requires non-standard solutions. But we have experience in this area. One of the latest and most global projects that we have completed is the completed copper electrolysis workshop at Uralelectromed JSC.

The copper electrolysis workshop at Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant JSC will meet the latest requirements in the field of mechanization and automation of production. The technical re-equipment of the workshop will take place in 2 stages. First, it is planned to build and commission 336 electrolysis baths with a total capacity of 115 thousand tons of cathode copper per year. Also at the first stage, warehouses for anodes, anode residues and cathode copper will be built.

The second stage envisages expanding the production capacity of the workshop to 230 thousand tons of cathodes per year by installing additional 8 sections of the baths.

As of today, the technological regulations of the project have been completed in full. It contains the final technological calculations, parameters of the production process and layout solutions for the workshop and all auxiliary systems.

At present, the specialists of Uralmekhanobr have started to prepare working documentation for the technical re-equipment of the workshop. This part of the work is planned to be completed by May 2020.
