During the overhaul, refractory masonry, fittings and burners on two furnace units were updated. We repaired the production line of the shop, scissors for cutting rolled metal, as well as the section for finishing and packing finished wire rod and a conveyor. We replaced the crane rails and repaired two cranes for unloading the billet and loading wire rod, renewed the water pipe for cooling the rolling equipment and the high-pressure oil pipe, the energy system of the shop, checked the instrumentation and automation.
"Overhaul allows for a complete revision of rolling mill equipment, reduce downtime and unplanned repairs. Further plans are to modernize the mill control system with the transition to microprocessors and update the laser installation for measuring the geometry of wire rod after finishing reduction ", - commented the chief engineer of BMK JSC Veniamin Ulyanov.
Rolling mill 150 was put into operation since 1979 year. It specializes in the production of steel billets - high-quality wire rods from various steel grades with an annual capacity of up to 600 thousand tons. Most of the products produced on it go to further redistribution in the steel wire shops of the plant. Wire rod is also supplied to the Mechel Group's hardware plants and is exported. Over its 40-year history, the mill has produced more than 24 million tons of rolled steel.
