The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) entered the TOP 5 of the first rating of scientific and technical development of the largest Russian companies, which was compiled by the AK&M agency. According to the results of the expert assessment, TMK received 8.82 points out of 10 possible and took the fourth place in the study, confirming the highest level of scientific and technological development.
The rating evaluates the scientific and technical activities of corporations and is aimed at drawing attention to their contribution to the innovative development of the country. It is based on two groups of indicators: quantitative, which reflect the volume of scientific and technical activity, and qualitative, which characterize the organization of the scientific and technical process. The key criterion was the amount of research and development (R&D) costs. The dynamics of investments in scientific research and the number of patents received by the company per revenue were also taken into account.
TMK was awarded high marks according to the rating criteria. The company's research centers are engaged in the development and testing of new materials, technologies for the production and processing of pipes, as well as experimental work on the creation of innovative pipe products and equipment modernization. The company's testing centers and laboratories conduct research on the properties of metals and anti-corrosion coatings, provide technological support for production and participate in the development of new types of products.
"Research and development is one of the priority areas of TMK's work. Consistent investments in R&D and the development of scientific infrastructure allow us to create technological solutions that meet, and sometimes outpace, market and industry requirements. The high position in the rating confirms the effectiveness of the chosen strategy of scientific and technological development," said Igor Pyshmintsev, Director of Scientific Work at TMK.
The rating of scientific and technological development of Russian companies was compiled by the AK&M agency for the first time. The list of participants in the rating was formed from 300 of Russia's largest companies by revenue. Of these, 42 companies from different industries were included in the final ranking.
