On August 24, the European Commission published guidelines for officials charged with ensuring the proper functioning of the Carbon Dioxide Emissions Control Mechanism (CBAM).
The guide is intended for CBAM inspection authorities, who ensure that declarations made by taxable manufacturers comply with the rules.
It also provides information for the national authorities responsible for the accreditation and supervision of these inspection organizations.
The Commission published an overview of these accreditation bodies and their powers on July 24.
On August 21, the EU Executive published the registry user's guide with which to file CBAM declarations. On August 14, he also released a package of documents for manufacturers based in third countries, those directly affected by CBAM. This guide is for each sector covered by the mechanism: aluminum, steel and cast iron, hydrogen, cement, fertilizers and electricity.
The Commission also used the summer period to publish a modified version of the default values used to determine emissions attributed to goods for which there is no verified factual data (an Excel version is available, ,).
