The Lebedinsky GOK (part of Metalloinvest) hosted an annual meeting of heads of energy services of Metalloinvest enterprises. The results of the past year and ambitious plans for 2019 - 2021 were discussed here.

“Each plant of Metalloinvest is a huge energy system, which is noticeable even on the scale of our large country. These are thousands of kilometers of networks, hundreds of substations, dozens of generating devices and sources of various types of energy resources. Maintaining it and ensuring the supply of production facilities is a very important and responsible task, ”said Sergei Shcherbina, Director of the Department of Energy and Energy Resources of Metalloinvest Management Company. “Today, in accordance with current trends in the industry, we set ourselves serious tasks for organizing energy accounting, process automation and reconstruction of generating capacities.”

Four enterprises of the Metalloinvest company: Lebedinsky and Mikhailovsky GOKs, Oskolsky Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) and Ural Steel bear electricity and gas costs in the amount of 15 to 20 billion rubles a year each. The Company has been running a comprehensive energy efficiency program for 3 years already, within the framework of which it is possible to save from 1.5 to 2 billion rubles annually only by reducing the cost of energy resources. Today, in connection with the active development of Metalloinvest's Business System, more and more new opportunities and prospects appear for improving these processes.

This year, Lebedinsky GOK successfully completed the first stage of the external power supply (WPP) project, which has already provided about 600 million rubles in annual savings for the enterprise on the difference in tariffs of grid companies. The challenge for the future is the implementation of the next stages of this large-scale project.

Ural Steel is implementing an extensive program for the reconstruction of the CHP and the entire energy sector. The program promises an economic effect that will be measured in hundreds of millions of rubles a year.

OEMK (75% of the plant's electricity consumption is to ensure the operation of electric steel-making equipment) is faced with the task of energy saving.

Mikhailovsky GOK will soon start implementing a project for the construction of its own generation, which will ensure the reliability of power supply to production and reduce energy costs.

These and other projects of Metalloinvest enterprises help to significantly optimize costs and change the attitude towards energy resources - now a lean attitude towards their consumption is taken into account even at the stage of setting the production target.
