At the Volga pipe plant (VTZ), a member of Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), held an event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the founding of the company. They were attended by the Governor of Volgograd region Andrey Bocharov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TMK Dmitry Pumpyansky, TMK's General Director Igor Korytko, managing Director of Volzhsky pipe plant Sergey Chetverikov, representatives of TMK, Mining and metallurgical Union of Russia, regional authorities, partner organizations, as well as employees and veterans of the plant.
In celebration of the anniversary of the plant in the center of culture and arts of the Volga city "October" took place the solemn event. 249 employees VTZ received departmental, sectoral and corporate awards, including the title of "Honorary Metallurgist of the Russian Federation" and "Honored worker of TMK" and honorary certificates of the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation.
"Today, Volzhsky pipe plant, industrial complex for real world scale, using the most modern technology and equipment. One of the leaders of Russian and international steel market, the products of which are known throughout Russia and far beyond its borders. I thank the management of TMK and plant for the constructive cooperation and the work collective and veterans of the enterprise — for the dedication, tradition, hard work and significant contribution to the development of Volgograd region", — said Andrey Bocharov.

Plans for its development are closely connected with the tasks facing the fuel and energy complex of our country, including the development of complex oil fields in the Arctic, extraction of oil and gas offshore, deep-sea mining, work in conditions of permafrost, in adverse environments. Earlier it was used pipe products that was imported. Today we all produced here in Russia and Volzhsky pipe plant in this regard — the innovation leader in the Russian pipe industry," said Dmitry Pumpyansky.
the Decision to build the plant was made in the late 1960-ies in connection with acute need of the country in the main pipes for transporting hydrocarbons. For three years, was elevated tube complex for production of spirally gas pipes of large diameter. February 27, 1970, the State Commission signed the act of commissioning the first stage of the welding shop. In subsequent years, the Volzhsky pipe plant was built three tube and one in the meltshop.
In 2002, VTZ became part of the TMK, was the beginning of a qualitatively new stage of development of the plant. In accordance with the development strategy in line with TMK's Volzhsky pipe plant was carried out large-scale reconstruction of the steelmaking, rolling mills, built a new facility for the production of longitudinally welded large diameter pipes, seamless pipes of oil assortment, developed dozens of new products with high performance.
In 2019, the plant mastered the production of stainless steel pipes made of billets of own production became the winner of all-Russian contest "exporter of the year". The company has implemented a number of social projects for the improvement of working conditions and rest of workers. Special attention is paid to labor protection and ecology — last year completed the creation of a "Green shield". It is possible to reduce the concentration of metallurgical dust in the processing of steel slags of 95%.
