PJSC Severstal (MICEX-RTS: CHMF; LSE: SVST), one of the world's largest vertically integrated metals and mining companies, today reports its operating results for the first quarter of 2019.
HIGHLIGHTS (GROUP), Q1 2019
- The volume of pig iron production in 1 sq. 2019 increased by 6% and amounted to 2.36 mln. tonnes (Q4 2018: 2.23 mln tonnes) due to short-term works at BF # 2 in the previous quarter. Steel production rose to 3.04 mt (Q4 2018: 2.94 mt) on the back of higher pig iron production and increased billet production.
- Consolidated sales of steel products rose 3% qoq to 2.83 mt (Q4 2018: 2.76 Mt) following short-term maintenance work on rolling mills in the previous quarter and in the face of increasing plant performance. The share of domestic sales increased to 65% on the back of more favorable conditions on the Russian market (Q4 2018: 62%).
- The share of HVA products remained unchanged at 44% (Q4 2018: 44% ), which was due to a decrease in sales of semi-finished products on the one hand, and an increase in sales of galvanized sheet, polymer-coated sheet and heavy-plate products on the other.
- Sales of coking coal concentrate at Vorkutaugol decreased by 1% due to for scheduled longwall reassembly at Vorgashorskaya, Zapolyarnaya and Komsomolskaya mines, but remained at a historically high level reflecting production growth.
- Iron ore pellet sales decreased by 4% qoq and amounted to 2.83 million tonnes (Q4 2018: 2.94 mln. tonnes) due to lower production volumes and sales of stock in Q4 2018. 2018.
